Coherently, it is proper for nurses to understanding and implement a concept that help to alleviate unnecessary stress. The major concepts considered include high quality of living, death affirmation, pain and stress relief, and affectionate social support. The concepts, arguably overlap each other in given dimensions, rendering it plausible and rationale to focus on the best fit and most effective to evade redundancy and confusion on the side of nurses. Withal, it suffices to say that the pain and stress relief concept is the most effective for application by nurses providing hospice services since the associated patients are in significant pain and fear.
The pain and stress relief concept is the most applicable concept in hospice care since the relevant patients experience high degree of pain and psychological distress for an extended period. In support of the supposition, Ehrlich et al. (2019) informs that management of pain in the last weeks before a patient receiving hospice care passes away are the most challenging. The challenge stems from not only increase deterioration of physical health, but also increase fear or psychological health since it is rare for an individual to peacefully accept death.
