Background
Motivated nurses reach and exceed the assigned expectations, while they continuously improve themselves professionally and contribute towards workplace improvement. When there is adequate nurse staffing and improved access health care, there is greater quality productivity in health care settings, which improves health outcomes. While the theory-practice relationship is the most common there is increased emphasis reflexive practical knowledge in professional action, and nurses have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to improve patient care and advance the nursing professional, without ignoring their role as patient advocates.
Personal and professional accountability
In professional development, there is emphasis on continuous improvement in knowledge, skills and abilities, and personal growth is affected by abilities, opportunities, experiences and skills. In the case of personal growth and development the results indicated that I am mostly proficient, and this highlights that I focus on continuous education, career planning and education advancement. I seek to expand my competencies to achieve greater professional prominence, while promoting health and use of scientific evidence in clinical decision making. The results were consistent with my emphasis on ethical practice and supporting nursing standards. However, the lack of professional recognition, few possibilities for promotion may result in dissatisfaction in the workplace, which affects professional development.
Career planning
Focusing on the desired career paths setting objectives, examining oneself by focusing on training, skills, and experience helps in creating the professional development plan. In seeking to acquire more scientific and technical skills, and the results of competences and skills that I focus on the current level of practice and have identified a clear career path. This is beneficial as I seek to continue my education and work to the full extent of the training and education. I understand and evaluate job descriptions to ensure that I am qualified and will fit in the workplace, and especially, in places where there are opportunities. Nurse staffing problems remain a challenge to improving the quality of care, but there are efforts to improve training, skills and competencies (Yilmaz et al., 2016).
