Nursing Career Planning
Careers are one of the greatest employment opportunities, not only in the current field of employment but also on the basis of paths of entries that are becoming complicated each year. While it may be possible to find the right niche in the field of nursing, the majority of practitioners still find it necessary to seek better opportunities by pursuing advanced posts. According to Ingersoll et al., (2002), it is important to manage nursing career just like just like it happens in the management of a business. Therefore, a career plan becomes an essential tool in pursuant of a nursing career. In his sentiments, Chang Boon Lee (2003) supports the use of career plan as a yardstick to project professional development, job satisfaction and illustration of commitments to the discipline. The profession of nursing is a highly rewarding career with plenty of room for advancement and development. In that respect, having pursued Bachelor degree of Science in a nursing program at Chamberlain College of Nursing at Keystone and Crossing in Indianapolis, I intend to achieve my long-term career objective by working as a registered nurse in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU). In order to attain this objective, I need to establish a strong foundation by working hard in the next 5 years before seeking for an advanced level of employment opportunity while climbing up the ladder, and through continued education. I have done all the clinical nursing rotations and ready to take the board exam in a couple of months. Therefore, my ultimate objective is to become a registered nurse in a renowned healthcare institution like St. Vincent Hospital, or Eskenazi Hospital as a new graduate nurse.

My intention to join a nursing school was influenced by the passion to serve the society especially victims of accidents. I was inspired by an elder brother who is working as a registered nurse to date. I am enrolled in the Accelerated Bachelor degree of Science in Nursing program at Chamberlain College of Nursing at Keystone and Crossing in Indianapolis. I have been moved especially having heard from him on how he helps patients in critical conditions. From his stories, I envisioned the need to pursue a course in nursing so as to give back to the society in terms of service. With over ten years of experience, I am well organized and have a strong interpersonal skill and other necessary skills for this position. I also thrive in a fast-paced environment, and I am able and committed to learning new skills as the work demands it. All this suited me to work independently and in the collaborative team-oriented setting. Therefore, I would be able to gain a deeper insight on how to handle technical clinical procedures and make an accurate decision on how to undertake holistic patient care (Yilmaz et al., 2016).
After acquiring a position as an employee of the state board of Indiana, I will make good application of the skills gained in managing patients with varied complications and give them chance to live a healthy life. Supported by ten years of experience as a caregiver and a certification as a clinical nursing rotation, I will continue practicing my career as a nurse while setting the path to be an excellent caregiver. Therefore, I will not only stop at taking care of patients as a professional nurse, but I will put more effort and choose a specific focus of specialty so as to upgrade myself into higher levels o...
