Multiple strategies and tools can disseminate evidence related to healthcare improvement. The use of different strategies can help heighten awareness and the application of evidence among the target population in the evidence-based practice project. The evidence dissemination strategies resulting in healthcare improvement include patient organizations, passive dissemination (e.g., brochure or leaflet), and community ‘champions.’
Patient organizations constitute an evidence dissemination strategy by organizing an annual national forum on an illness at which individuals share their experiences and participate in education and training programs. Patient organizations also offer online and telephone counseling and evidence and other resources for caregivers and patients (Schipper et al., 2016).
