Introduction
My career objective/goal is to become a family nurse practitioner (FNP). On the job I am quite conversant with the strengths and weaknesses that may hinder a medical practitioner from fully contributing to the health sector. Below I have discussed some of my weaknesses and strengths in several areas.
Personal and professional accountability
As for the professional responsibility, my weakness is decision making. Every day and every step people make in life involve decision-making. The decision means taking risks something that I have a phobia for. It could be because of the culture that I was brought up in whereby the father is the head of the house and therefore makes all the decisions. On the other hand, I understand that I have a good understanding and sometimes better judgment, but I have not yet fully exercised my skills in making tough decisions. Scholars argue that it is impossible to predict the outcome of a certain decision, but it is possible to take steps to assess the possible outcome of the decisions. Making decisions involve the risks that the decision maker has to undergo (Iucu & Platis, 2012). Steps to curb this include making sure to plan and ensuring that there is always an alternative plan in case the initial one backfires. My strength is in effective communication because I believe that effective communication is the key to the achievement of any goal or mission.
Career planning
Career planning has been a debatable issue around the world. My greatest weakness that I currently experience is the feeling that I am not utilizing my talents to the fullest. My strength in this field is that I drafted a career plan, which I have been following, and hope to achieve my dreams through it. I have a strong educational background from Korea moreover am continuing to further my studies and the Grand Canyon University. My goal is to become a FNP and with the knowledge am receiving am quite sure that I did my career planning correctly.
Personal journey disciplines
My greatest weakness is that I want to be a perfectionist in that everything has to be in order and perfect. When working on a project as a team, I tend to get frustrated if the other members do not put as much effort as I have to the project. One major strength that I possess is that I am ethical and strictly believe in the code of principles for this profession. My colleagues regard to me as the strictest individual in following the code of conduct. In the FNP profession one needs to be a perfectionist so as to ensure that things are done in the way they are supposed to failure to this can lead to loss of patients. Additionally it is also advisable to be ethical not only in the nursing profession but also in other professionals. This increases the credibility of the profession and also he/she maintains a good reputation.
Reflective practice references behaviors/tenets
Here my greatest strength comes in caring and providing quality care for patients. I believe that all the patients are equal, and they should receive quality medical services. This is because I believe that the patients will build a good reputation for the hospital. One weakness th...
