Evaluating Dental Practice Management and Jurisprudence

    1.Assess practice management as related to the Dental Practice Act.

   2.Design an optimal in-office dental hygiene department.

   3.Anticipate the value of adherence to state statutes and regulations.

  • How does what you learned through completing these competencies connect to the learning outcomes in this course (you must write about how they connect to at least 2 of the 3 CLOs)? Describe the gains you have made over the term in achieving the CLOs.

This signature assignment consisted of me working with my group to make a fictious dental  office with a vision statement and a  theme/logo. Then we had to schedule ourselves which days and hours we are working and put examples of informed and refusal consents for the office. This relates to the 2nd clo which states to Design an optimal in-office dental hygiene department. Also it relates to the first clo that states Assess practice management as related to the Dental Practice Act.

  • What challenges did you face in completing this signature assignment? How did you address/troubleshoot them?

I faced many challenges when completing this assignment. We had to make an inventory control plan which we needed to create an excel spreadsheet and list all the items we need in order to treat our patients and that was quit difficult because neither I or my team members knew how to make an excel sheet. Also getting a time for all of us to meet was kind of dificult because we all had different schedules.

-          My success in completing this assignment was learning how to make a safety data sheet and how to make and monitor a inventory control plan. I believe that will be useful for me when I get into practice.

-          My learning process for this assignment was kind of easy because the instructions to the signature assignment was to the point. I would only say the most difficult part was the inventory control plan.

-          I have learned how to make an inventory control plan and how to monitor and what. It takes to make a dental practice.

-          This related to my actual clinical class because it teaches me what it takes and what the people in our school need to do in order to order the supplies for all of our patients.

• -Before I began this class I didn’t really  understand what it meant to anticipate the value of adherence to state statutes and regulations. Throughout the class I learned what the regulations are and how every state has its own regulations.
