Advancement in modern technology has resulted in revolution in healthcare practice over the last decade. The most significant of these revolutions has been the application of data analytics in practice. Data analytics finds a broad application in healthcare, and it has improved the overall quality of care and patient safety and healthcare outcomes.
Purpose of Analytic Strategies in Health Care
Analytic strategies help in improving efficiency in healthcare practice. Such improvement is measured and expressed in operational, clinical, and financial goals and metrics associated with them (Wang, Kung, & Byrd, 2018). Such metrics include reducing readmissions, length of stay (LOS), wait times, and improving the management of the revenue cycle. Such analytic strategies address various concerns; provision of data security and access protocols, building and sustaining IT infrastructure that is appropriate, promoting actionable data and dashboards to drive decisions, foster faster and accurate generation and distribution of reports, and to streamline and create efficiencies within support staff (Hiller, 2016; Rath, 2020).
