As health care organizations increasingly expand in size in terms of services and patient capacity, they have a growing demand for accurate information, which can only be obtained through analytics. Within this expanding organization, leaders and clinicians need to improve service quality and patient satisfaction and outcomes. Stakeholders such as industry groups, the government, employers, payers, and patients are also in demand for more insightful information about hospital performance. Therefore, as an organization increase in size, so does its analytics needs.
In examining the analytics needs of a health care organization, it is important to plan, execute, monitor, and report on findings as part of important projects in project management. Planning develops a roadmap for all project members and execution phase aims at developing and completing the deliverables. Performance and monitoring phase measures the progress and performance. Finally, at the end of a project, accurate reporting on the findings about the analytics needs of an organization can be done electronically and archived.
