Evidence-based practices (EBP) refers to the integration and incorporation of the best research evidence together with patient values and clinical expertise, which help in improving patient outcomes. Evidence-based practices are helpful and critical in the development and improvement of health care in society. Evidence-based practices help in saving time by empowering the nurses and other physicians. However, in health facilities and organizations, there several potential challenges and barriers that may hinder the smooth implementation of the EBP change proposal to achieve the set objectives and goals. Exacting change within an EBP setup is challenging to implement and sustain. The catch, specifically, is usually on the sustenance, on ensuring consistency is there. Some of these barriers are discussed below.
One of the barriers to a successful implementation of EBP change proposal in the health facility is the lack of sufficient funds to enable and facilitate the implementation (Mosadeghrad, 2014). The organization may lack funds to purchase the necessary equipment that may be needed in the process of implementing the change proposal. The change proposal may need special equipment to conduct critical research regarding the evidence-based practice to be implemented. This barrier can be controlled by requesting support from the government, sponsors, well-wishers, and other financial institutions. This will ensure that the organization has sufficient funds to foresee the implementation of the EBP change proposal.
