ARAB SPRING
The Arab Spring was a group of protests that made a lot of changes in North Africa and Southwest Asia. The Arab Spring was started in response to the oppressive regimes and poor standards of living among the people. These protests started in Tunisia. The social and political impact of Arab Spring remains significant till date. Although not all the movements became successful, there was increased cultural freedom and democracy in some countries. However in some countries, these protests increased oppression and instability. As a result, the Arab Spring did not bring meaningful democratic reforms.
The Arab Spring displayed the fact that democracy was not the agenda of the western countries especially the US foreign policy. Some of the democratic reforms of the Arab Spring were not encouraged with political influence and sufficient resources.
