The measures of quality in health care organizations are used to compare and assess the quality of organizations regarding their processes and outcome. Physicians formulated the system of classification of organizations. The measures of processes and outcome are different in several ways (Albrecht & Werth, 2010). One, process measurements focus on the quality of data and services while advocating for their improvement while outcome measures focus on reforms and quality assurance of the health service provided by organizations (Salek & Kamudoni, 2015). For example, a record system in a hospital can be subjected to process measures to assess its efficiency in target operations. A process measure can also be used in the assessment of the capacity of an organization considering its facilities among other factors (Kotronoulas et al., 2014). On the other hand, outcome measurement can be used to evaluate the proposed reforms in an organization. Outcome measurement can also evaluate the level of performance of an organization in a given period.
The measurement of clinical outcome is challenging due to various factors. One, clinical service organizations are complex and are facing frequent changes due to medical research and technological advancement that makes it difficult to measure the clinical outcome. Secondly, medical field deal with various temporary people or patients that makes it to trace the long-term research work and the patients face diverse health challenges that are difficult to classify for a single research with substantial remarks (Salek & Kamudoni, 2015). The records of health services are of different types considering that patients suffer from different diseases that make it challenging to develop a general measure for the outcome.
