Nonfiction Story: Winning the Rat Race – Success, Determination, and Luck

Essay Instructions:

I have not had a preliminary interview, however I did talk to the owners of the gym and the story will be about how they started their gym business and what they had to go through. I plan to film them working with clients and getting more of the inspirational side
Write a proposal that has four parts:
Log line and title (5 points)
Description of your b-roll ideas. That is, what will be the visual story? What you’re your audience see other than interview shots? Describe the situations and action you plan to film of your subject. What makes this story visually captivating? (15 points)
Identify the person who will be the focus of the story. And where you will film her or him.
Be sure to choose a subject with a conflict, a struggle, or a crisis! Your story must have something that will allow you to tell a story that will make your audience interested in finding out what will happen next! (10 points)
A succinct summary of your story and what you think is the structure of the film, considering all story arc concepts. Be sure to include a description of the “conflict” in your proposal. Before writing this proposal, you must conduct a preliminary interview. You should not write what you think the story will be about without having talked to the person. (20 points)
