Long-term Impacts on the Tourism Industry
One of the ten most essential tourism issues is the long-term impacts of overtourism, political disruptions, climate change, and global warming on the tourism industry. The tourism industry plays a crucial part in the growth of the local and global economy through the generation of jobs (Edgell, 2015). As such, it is vital to examine the factors that can positively or negatively impact the industry. According to Holloway and Humphreys (2020), the tourism industry is affected by cultural, social, technological, economic, political, climate, and natural issues. Some locals may choose to leave the tourist destination, causing it to lose its authenticity. Ultimately, increased environmental destruction and sociocultural tensions will make some tourist destinations undesirable. This will be a loss for the tourism industry.
Political Disruption
Political disruption within and between states can impact the development of the tourism industry. According to Edgell (2021), political disruption is one of the most significant factors affecting tourist destinations. Visitors are only willing to visit politically stable countries because political stability provides them with a sense of safety. Without political stability, visitors will stay away from even the most beautiful tourist destinations. Beirman (2022) reveals that political disruption causes tourist destinations to be undesirable among visitors, mainly because it changes ...
