Ethical Consideration of Genomics
Genomics refers to the study of the entire or a section of the genetic sequence data of organisms and understanding the structure and operations of the sequence and downstream biological elements. Genomics differs from genetics, which illustrates how traits are passed from generation to generation. Genomics has multiple benefits in society, ranging from screening prenatal genetics to the genetic examination of women with breast cancer family histories (ODPHP, 2014). Also, it facilitates pro-active care delivery by leveraging genomic information to allow care providers to identify patients likely to develop specific conditions and plan effective treatment. The approach effectively treats behavioral infections before individuals show the signs of the diseases.
