Similarities
Both movies are fighting against resistance towards the choice of art they want. In Mao's Last Dancer, the art of dance is used as a whole revolutionary mechanism to unite and educate people on how to fight with one heart as well as standing up for what they want. Dance is used as a means to abuse children to turn them into professional artists by making the children into slaves of the higher power. During the dance class, one of Li’s teachers continually calls him pig head and pressures Li to the utmost.
