Question One
Socrates meets Euthyphro outside of Athens court. Socrates had been summoned to court on allegation of immorality by Meletus, and Euthyphro has come to accuse his father of accidentally murdering a violent farm employee. Socrates compliment Euthyphro, indicating that Euthyphro must be a prominent master in holy issues if he is ready to lay claim on his father on such a doubtful accusation. Euthyphro accepts that he is aware of what holy means. Socrates encourages Euthyphro to train him and coach him on godliness since Euthyphro’s training might assist Socrates in his court case against Meletus. According to Moore (2015), the training on such godly and superhuman nature was an attraction to several during such times.
Question Two
Euthyphro proposes that piety is mistreating religious sinners. Socrates notices that this definition is not fulfilling since there are many religious activities apart from mistreating offenders. He urges Euthyphro to offer him a general meaning that pinpoints that single characteristic that all religious acts the ordinarily share. Euthyphro proposes that a sacred deed is what is pleasing to the gods, in reaction to which Socrates identifies that the gods frequently disagree, so what is acceptable to one may not be attractive to everybody.
