One interesting fact about the lecture is that artists in the 15th and 16th centuries were influenced by their natural environment. As a period of Renaissance, evident by scientific advancement, the intellectual pursuit of the artist become evident in the drawing (Leonardo). The drawing becomes a sort of composition or creation of visual ideas. Similarly, the idea of contrast in drawing emerged during this period. It is interesting that Leonardo Da Vinci most likely discovered this form of drawing during his extensive reading. Leonardo Da Vinci’s form of art involved drawing what he could see on the streets, market, or around his surroundings. His drawings focus on what he could see, not some ideal world.
