Mass media can be of help to the public health campaign team to communicate messages to the target population. Regular sanitization and washing of hands using running water and soap is an essential hygiene practice as recommended by the World Health Organization (2020). It is one of the crucial messages from the public health communication team to the mass media that was stressed during the spread of coronavirus (Furukawa., Michael., & Lisa 100). The virus that affects the respiratory system, and is transmitted through droplets or discharges from an infected individual. It is viable and contagious for up to nine days on the smooth surfaces and surfaces outside the human body and remains infectious.
To slow the transmission and for protection, frequent handwashing with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and running clean water is advisable. Through mass media, the message of sanitization and frequent hand washing strategy from the public health experts team can easily reach the population to slow down or stop the spread of the dangerous virus, causing mass deaths. The primary goal of washing hands using the recommended items above is to permanently kill the virus and stop the spread of the virus, which is an enclosed virus in an outer layer to protect it from any weak damages. Soap compounds disrupt the neatly- ordered enclosure of the virus, then the running water washes it down the drainage and leaves the hands disinfected.
