Chopra, Ruma. Unnatural rebellion: loyalists in New York City during the Revolution. University of Virginia Press, 2011.
Ideally, Ruma Chopra brings about the collective portraits of the various experiences that the loyalist had to go through during the revolution. The author, in the aforementioned book, brings a different or rather a unique approach to the loyalist point of entry with regards to the American Revolution. He discerns that loyalist politics have for a long time been rooted into the natural law, the custom and finally, in rather an initially polarizing but careful and knowledgeable reading of the revolution’s social character. Summarily, the author’s book is more of a sensitive probing study conducted on the commitments and circumstances that the loyalist of the American Revolution went through.
Van Buskirk, Judith L. Generous Enemies: Patriots and Loyalists in Revolutionary New York. University of Pennsylvania Press, 2002.
The American Revolution was span by the entry of the final group of 130 ships of the royal navy in 1776 into the waters surrounding New York. Judith and the Generous Enemies do reveal that the military standoff tested the limits of political and military authority by producing civilian communities which were subjected to operating in close sustained proximity. That aside, the books is seen to challenge several assumptions that were held about wartime during the revolution period. This has been brought out as though the communities were hostile opponents. Basically, the authors tell the story of the American Revolution with more human detail included in it.
