Robert J. Sternberg and Howard Gardner have both developed theories that explain intelligence. Their theories are different in some ways and similar in others, as will be revealed in this paper. On one hand, Robert Sternberg’s theory proposes three parts of human intelligence namely the practical, analytical and creative parts (Sternberg, 2018). The practical part deals with an individual’s practical knowledge and ability to adapt to different contexts. The analytical part deals with an individual’s ability to process information about a situation and solve problems. The creative part deals with the ability to come up with new ideas or solutions to problems. Sternberg’s theory, thus, explains what intelligence is.
