Definition and Similarities
Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits employee discrimination: This Act makes it illegal to discriminate against employees on the basis of color, race, religion, sex or national origin. There is also employee protection against retaliation in case of discrimination.
The Pregnancy Discrimination Act (PDA): This Act protects against sex discrimination and “sex” includes women who are affected by pregnancy, childbirth or related medical conditions (Goldberg & Carr, 2012).
Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA): The Act protects against disability discrimination in employment, to allow qualified workers with disabilities to participate in the labor force.
