The project proposal that I will be representing is accessing maternal risk. According to WHO, “295 000 women died following pregnancy and during childbirth in 2017 only (WHO, 2017). “ What if we could mitigate this risk by financing research done in Scotland and tested in their rural area called SAFER. This research focused on how we can test women in their early stages of pregnancy and determine the risks that they are about to experience and get ahead of them. Research shows complications that happen during pregnancy, and most of the time, leads to death are treatable if only they are managed.” 87% to94% of pregnancy individuals report at least one health problem. And long term health problems are reported by 31% of pregnant individuals. These are the facts.
Think of the lives we would be saving if we only got ahead of this by using the SAFER method to help minimize all these problems that almost all pregnant women experience. Research also shows that risk management is done for pregnant women; it is just that it is not done as thoroughly as it is supposed to be why we have a very high number of women experiencing complications.
This project proposal will be felt by almost everybody because one of us knows women or are women, and we will get pregnant one day, and we will want to get the best medical care possible. The main stakeholders in this are the investors who would want to invest in this project, for instance, The World Health Organization, the researchers who came up with the SAFER plan, and finally the society whose lives will be improved by this discovery.
We would like WHO as a stakeholder because it is an organization that focuses on health issues that affect the world. It has the necessary resources to fund this project, and by doing this is solving one of the most common health issues in the world. The researchers of the project are also main stakeholders because they are the ones to train people all over the globe how to use their research to minimize these pregnancy complications. The society is the other stakeholder because first, we need to test the study on someone. Once the analysis is verified, it will help all those women who would have had complications.
There is an 8% risk of every woman who gets pregnant in this world to develop complications (Neiger, 2017). There are four prevalent conditions that women may experience during pregnancy. These conditions include hyperemesis gravidum, gestational diabetes, placenta previa, and preeclampsia. All these diseases can be treated, and for them to be treated, they need to be discovered first. Those are the common complications during pregnancy. Other pregnancy complications may come after pregnancy, and one of the most common causes is death, usually caused by excessive bleeding during childbirth, hypertension, organ failure, common diseases like malaria, and so many other things.
