Scientific evidence has shown that junk food sold in restaurants is highly associated with heart diseases. Junk foods contain a higher percentage of saturated fats, major causes of obesity, diabetes, and hyperlipidemia. Such kind of food also contains large quantities of salt, which increases blood pressure. Recent research has indicated that saturated fats also contain a high percentage of sugar, which further increases the chances of contracting heart diseases.
1. The cardiovascular system, also known as the circulatory system, consists of the pump and several blood vessels that transport blood to all parts of the body. The system ensures that the vital substances are distributed to various cells of the body while it ensures that wastes are properly removed from the body. Therefore, the cardiovascular system consists of the following structures; the arteries, the veins, and the capillaries, and the heart in general.
The system, therefore, comprises two major sections, namely the pulmonary circulation and systematic circulation. Pulmonary circulation occurs between the heart and lungs and takes deoxygenated blood to the lungs to be oxygenated. Systematic circulation transports blood from the heart to other parts of the body.
2. A stroke occurs when the circulation of the blood does not reach the brain. Decreased circulation of blood to the brain and the subsequent lack of oxygen ultimately make the brain cells to die. There are quite some conditions that lead to stroke, high blood pressure being one of them. High blood pressure increases the risk of suffering from stroke more so before the age of 80. Age is another factor contributing to stroke. Research indicates that the chances of suffering from stroke increases as one becomes older.
Although it is largely associated with old age, it also affects children more during the perinatal period. Gender, to some extent, contributes to stroke. Scientific studies have shown that men are at a higher risk of getting a stroke, although women who are victims of the diseases die from it. Men’s mortality rate is lower than that of women, so men suffer from the disease when they are relatively younger than women, which indicates that men have higher chances of survival than women.
Cigarette smoking is another cause of stroke. Cigarette smoking leads to the accumulation of substances that are fatty in the arteries. The carotid artery is the main artery that carries blood to the brain. Its blockage means that no blood is transported to the brain leading to stroke. Cigarette also contains nicotine, a substance which plays an important role in raising blood pressure.
3. Coronary heart diseases occur when plaque accumulates in the arteries. The blood, which is rich in oxygen, is supplied to the heart by the arteries. Plaque consists of fats, cholesterol, and calcium, which are found in the blood. Coronary heart disease develops when the inner layers of the coronary artery are damaged. As the damage occurs, the body heals, and the healing process makes the plaque build up in the artery, causing it to be blocked.
Some of the habits that are likely to increase contracting Coronary heart disease include high blood pressure, insulin resistance, sm...
