This course has helped me to acquire numerous skills and competencies. First, I now understand the importance of the sustainable development goals (SDGs). Indeed, achieving these goals is crucial for the well-being of people by ensuring that they have necessities and can access quality healthcare services. Second, I have learned that Universal Health Coverage (UHC) ensures that poor individuals are offered essential interventions to combat specific diseases. Besides, if these people are not assisted in a way that they can access medical services, many of them can suffer from chronic diseases, increasing their mortality rates.
Third, I know how to prepare for a competency-based interview. In particular, I have learned that competency-based interviews emphasize the ability of an individual to perform specific activities. For instance, the interviewee shows his or her competitiveness in resolving problems that he or she might come across in a specific line of duty (United Nations, 2015). Fourth, I understand how to act and answer questions that might be asked in a competency-based interview. In most cases, an individual should show his or her ability to handle challenging situations, meet specific demands, or solve problems beyond others’ expectations.
The most interesting part of the course was the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Specifically, achieving the SDG goals would foster healthy living for individuals. Some of the most significant things addressed in the SDGs include poverty, hunger, clean water, gender equality, climate change, and peace and justice. These problems affect humanity in different ways and getting solutions to them would mean making the planet livable. For instance, climate change has threatened humanity since it causes other numerous problems, such as hunger, drought, floods, and increased precipitation among others.
Although this course is informative and has enabled me to acquire numerous skills, I have two suggestions that when followed can improve it. First, real-life examples should be used to show how Indonesia is progressing or lagging behind in achieving SDGs. That way, it can be easy for individuals to know different metrics that can be used to tell whether a specific country is on the right track or not. Moreover, the course can be improved by using more diagrams or images to help clarify certain concepts. Besides, some learners understand theories better when they see images associated with them.
COVID-19 has negatively affected the health workforce and service delivery, which are vital aspects of the health system building blocks of Indonesia.
