On the other hand, Vonnes and Wolf (2017) discovered that caregivers played a vital role in preventing clients from falling in hospitals. However, the researchers added that maximum results could be attained when the patients' families were engaged in fall prevention programs. Cho et al. (2021) suggested using electronic health record systems (EHRS) to document and track patient fall risks. All three studies agree that several factors, such as mental and environmental conditions, contribute to falls.
Finding the most current information on falls is essential because nurses and doctors can identify additional factors contributing to the problem and adopt evidence grounded prevention programs promoting patient safety. Moreover, the present evidence is important in suggesting the most effective and recent methods and systems that hospitals can use to measure the success of fall prevention programs (Cho et al., 2021). Lastly, up-to-date data enables caregivers to be aware of changes and modifications added or reduced to universal fall precautions to ensure patient safety.
Several changes are visible in the above 1-to-15-year period of research. First, the view that the patient's fall resulted from poor nursing care changed. Secondly, identifying factors and individuals at high risk of falling was prioritized. Third, care prevention programs gradually considered care process intervention, environmental measures, technology, and cultural interpositions (Cho et al., 2021). Moreover, the opinion that all falls were preventable changed, and the issue was categorized into anticipated and unanticipated physiological and accidental falls.
