A human touch is vital in the development of human beings. Affectionate touch improves the psychological and physical growth of young children. However, for early childhood caregivers and teachers, touch is a thorny subject as cases of inappropriate touch have been on the rise as well as abuse and concerns on the matter. The outcome has been the stakeholders avoiding any form of touch altogether, which can have a detrimental effect on the child’s development and learning processes (The Pennsylvania State University, 2020).
