Correlation denotes the extent to which two variables are linearly related or how two variables tend to change together at a constant rate (Schober et al., 2018). The correlation coefficient defines the strength and direction of such a relationship. Pearson and Spearman are two types of correlation analysis.
Pearson correlation examines the linear relationship found between two data sets. It is a measure in statistics evaluating the relationships between two continuous variables. Basically, it calculates how the change in one variable affects the change in a related variable (Schober et al., 2018).
