Technologies like robotics, 3D printing, driverless vehicles, and drones can significantly promote efficiency and ensure seamless operations within the supply chain. Goods-to-person and automated delivery robots can handle such repetitive tasks as transporting and picking with optimal speed and accuracy. These technologies reduce the risks of manual labor demand and human errors, leading to efficiency improvements. Driverless vehicles and drones can expedite delivery processes by averting traditional transport systems, decreasing delivery costs and time. Moreover, 3D printing facilitates on-demand production, doing away with comprehensive inventory management, reducing lead times, and lowering transportation costs (Schniederjans et al., 2020).
