With a net worth of $40, Reed Hastings launched Netflix in the 19th century. Given that it was the only video store to have opened up at the time, the company was exposed to many opportunities for success. The store allowed customers to view their preferred movies on their own time, unlike other stations like CNN, ESPN, and HBQ, as a result, the enterprise received widespread support (ROTHAERMEL & GUENTHER, 2017). Additionally, another aspect that did contribute to its growth was the internet usage increase in America, where adults managed to account for 18% of those who used it and 37% of those who possessed computers (Exhibit 1) (ROTHAERMEL & GUENTHER, 2017). Therefore, throughout the case study, we will identify three major issues the organization is now facing and examine examples of how ideas from the readings might improve our understanding of each one.
Today the corporation is experiencing a financial crisis, which is only one of the issues hurting Netflix greatly. This is effectively demonstrated in (Exhibit 4). If we closely examine the company's most important financial information, we see that it makes no sense how much money the business generates in terms of revenue at the end of the day if earnings per share fall below 1% (ROTHAERMEL & GUENTHER, 2017). The fact that the corporation is forced to cover a large portion of the expenses that are unavoidable in this situation is seen as fueling this. As a result, the business should come up with a strategy to address each of these issues separately by lowering expenses or raising income.
