Book Review Instructions:

The purpose is to write out a Compo paper, comparing the two cities in the book "East Egg" and "West Egg" with the two city Beijing and Shenzhen. "East Egg" from the book is like Beijing, all rich people are rich for multiple generations. However, considering the people from the "West Egg" is like the people from Shenzhen. They are what's called the "New money". Make connections in-between, you can write anything you want. I don't seem to have a thesis yet so you could create one. Thank you, sir. I will include a Document that my teacher shared with me.

A comparison between East Egg and West Egg with the cities of Beijing and Shenzhen
The novel by F. Scott Fitzgerald is narrated by Nick Carraway, one of the main protagonists in the book. Nick lives in West Egg, a new village in New York with upcoming millionaires and billionaires. One such character is Jay Gatsby, who owns a huge mansion next door to Nick. He is a wealthy man shrouded in mystery as to where he became a wealthy man. He holds large, extravagant parties at his mansion every night. The novel also introduces us to Tom and Daisy Buchanan. Daisy Buchanan is Nick’s cousin, who, together with Tom, her husband, lives in East Egg. East Egg has various beautiful palaces, which are the homes of people who have generational wealth. The Buchanans are one such family. Tom Buchanan is the heir to a fortune that has been in his family for generations. Nick visits the Buchanans, and while there, and the novel then focuses on Jordan Baker, a famous golfer, and friend of the Buchanans. She is also from a wealthy family. Daisy tells Nick about Tom’s affair with ‘a woman in the city.’ The story proceeds to reveal that the woman is Myrtle Wilson, an ambitious woman looking for status. She is the wife of George Wilson, a mechanic working in the valley of ashes. The valley of ashes is a stretch between New York and West Egg. There are report people among the ashes while the rich drive past them on as they head towards New York ADDIN ZOTERO_ITEM CSL_CITATION {"citationID":"QYt0vpY9","properties":{"formattedCitation":"(Fitzgerald)","plainCitation":"(Fitzgerald)","noteIndex":0},"citationItems":[{"id":395,"uris":["http://zotero.org/users/local/WvZUWaY4/items/44YMLTHC"],"uri":["http://zotero.org/users/local/WvZUWaY4/items/44YMLTHC"],"itemData":{"id":395,"type":"book","publisher":"Charles Scribner's Sons","title":"The Great Gatsby","author":[{"family":"Fitzgerald","given":"F. Fitzgerald’s work is meant to highlight the economic situations of the natural world satirically. Many places fit the description of the economic class of the various villages in The Great Gatsby, none more so than Beijing and Shenzhen. The thesis of my work is that the portrayal of West Egg and East Egg can be likened to two Chinese cities associated with generational wealth and new wealth respectively. Beijing and Shenzhen are home to some of the world’s top wealthiest people. The difference is the way people acquire their money. The case is the same with both West Egg and East Egg. The difference comes in how people in the two cities acquire their wealth. West Egg has people just who began acquiring money and needed to live large. My argument is that Beijing resembles East Egg, while Shenzhen resembles West Egg.
Beijing bears a close resemblance to East Egg and East Egg is described in the book as ‘fashionable.’ White mansions and palaces were all around the area. Fitzgerald uses Tom to describe the people of East Egg and contrasts them with those from West Egg. Tom had generational wealth, with Fitzgerald termi...
