The problem(s) with the Common Core standards, By Valerie is a book that reviews the education system of the schools. It refers to the prevailing educational system where all schools taught and carried out other activities independently. Throughout the country, various schools operated their own curriculum in a diverse manner. The training of all kids nationally means acquisition of unique contents in the same syllabus. The different training received depended on the preference of the particular teacher.
Introduction of national standards educators in the place of local school-based curriculum was not welcome by most educators. They rejected the idea with the argument that the standards had low quality content thus termed it as useless. However, they asserted that the common training would ensure universal skill is instilled to all children. On the other hand, more arguments stated that the standards were vague and partly compiled. Partly compiled work may mean inefficient substance given to young kids. The national standards would also affect the local freedom and the control that educators had with children.
Additionally, it was amazing why the standards were compiled within one year. A second fault was the secret compilation that didn’t involve the teachers who knew what kids commonly needed.
