Instructions
Write a critique of the article by Shrestha, Anderson, and Moore listed in Required Reading, answering the following questions:
◾ What are the applications of observational learning?
◾ What is point-of-view modeling (POVM), and how is it different from ordinary video modeling?
◾In what training situations are video prompting (VP) procedures helpful, and what is the major disadvantage of using them?
◾ How does forward chaining improve upon VP techniques?
◾ What is the target behavior in the study?
◾ How was language used to boost the training?
◾ Did the study maintain the ethical guidelines that are required by the psychological profession?
◾How might future studies include those of other cultures?
◾ Considering what you know about research methodology and observational learning, in what ways was the outcome of the interventionevaluated?
◾ How might mirror neurons be involved in this kind of training?
◾ Imagine you were asked to create a similar training video. What target behavior would you select, and what techniques would you utilize tooptimize the training?
Your article critique should be at least two pages, not including the title and reference pages. You must properly cite at least the textbook and the assigned article in your paper. All references should be formatted in APA style.

Point of View modeling
Introduction
In their study, Shrestha, Anderson, and Moore (2013) examined the efficiency of point-of-view video modeling when applied in forward-chaining in teaching a 4-year-old boy suffering from autism on serving himself a snack in the afternoon. The researchers conducted a task analysis, diving the task into three phases and each phase having 1 video. They designed a changing criterion for evaluating the impact of the intervention had on the participant’s capacity to prepare and serve Weetbix without assistance. Findings showed that combining forward chaining and point-of-view modeling was efficient in teaching the participant how to serve snack with no prompting. It was also shown that despite maintaining the skill at follow–up, the findings could not be generalized to other snacks apart from Weetbix. Parents were satisfied with the procedures used and the outcomes from the intervention.
What are the applications of observational learning?
Observational learning refers to learning that takes place through the observation of behavior among others. It is applied as a form of social learning that is done in different forms and based on different processes. In human beings, it is applied in teaching individuals a new behavior. It is a common procedure used in medical procedures such as teaching autistic children how to live independently and without the need for a prompt.
What is point-of-view modeling (POVM), and how is it different from ordin-oary video modeling?
(POVM) is a relatively new development that entails videotaping the completion of a task from the perspective of the target individual. It helps in showing behaviors that need fine motor skills.
In what training situations are video prompting (VP) procedures helpful, and what is the major disadvantage of using them?
Video prompting procedures are helpful in teaching functional self-help skills, and they arise from the varying efficacy of the POVM. VP involves breaking down a complex behavior into various, smaller tasks and steps. Their major disadvantage is that they cause one to be dependent on the procedures. One tends to get used to depending on prompts to do any activity.
How does forward chaining improve upon VP techniques?
VP is used in conjunction with video modeling to enhance the effectiveness and merits of VP without creating the disadvantage of prompt dependency. Forward chaining is also used together with video modeling techniques to enhance the efficiency of teaching various skills among children with autism. This ensures ...
