Week 10 Assignment Instructions
Assignment: Annotated Bibliography
Submit: Annotated Bibliography
This week, you will submit the annotated bibliography introduced in Week 3.
An annotated bibliography is a document containing selected sources accompanied by a respective annotation. Each annotation consists of a summary, analysis, and application for the purpose of conveying the relevance and value of the selected source. As such, annotations demonstrate a writer's critical thinking about and authority on the topic represented in the sources.
In preparation for your own future research, an annotated bibliography provides a background for understanding a portion of the existing literature on a particular topic. It is also a useful precursor for gathering sources in preparation for writing a subsequent literature review.
By Day 7
Locate six articles on a research topic of your interest—two quantitative research articles, two qualitative research articles, and two mixed methods research articles—published in peer-reviewed journals. (ANY ARTICLE WILL DO)
Prepare an annotated bibliography that includes the following:
A one-paragraph introduction that provides context for why you selected the research articles you did.
A reference list entry in APA Style for each of the six articles that follows proper formatting. Follow each reference list entry with a three-paragraph annotation that includes:
A summary
An analysis
An application as illustrated in this example
A one-paragraph conclusion that presents a synthesis of the six articles.
Format your annotated bibliography in Times New Roman, 12-point font, double-spaced. A separate References list page is not needed for this assignment.
Submit your Annotated Bibliography.

Annotated Bibliography

The element of distance education or in other words distance learning is gaining prominence in the contemporary society for students who are not in a position to be physically present at school. The courses that are offered within institutions that conduct such programs are considered as blended or hybrid in which Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC’s) are provided to learners through an interactive participation. This paper seeks to develop an annotated bibliography that analyses different research methods conducted in creating an understanding on the essence of distance education.

The author of this material undertakes a quantitative research approach in assessing the segment of distance education based on a comparative study on a completed meta-analysis on some of the literatures collected from 2002 to present. The author conducts an investigation through the use of postpositive claims from some of the developed knowledge in reviewing 232 studies with the aim of improving the aspect of distance education.

According to the author, this comparative study is established as fruitful since it allows researchers to widen and broaden their observations in order to achieve a reliable and extensive understanding of the concept of distance learning and its essence. The researcher reduces specific variables, questions and hypotheses through the use of observatory and measurements to inquire on the basis of the study, and incorporates surveys in collecting data on some of the predetermined instruments that are used in yielding data for the study. The author then establishes the essence of higher education through the inclusion of distance education, an aspect that necessitates an improvement of the quality of higher education in addressing the problems that affect the process.
