How Far Should Humans Go To Protect The Environment?
* Introduction
 Environmental protection and concerns highlight the need for sustainability and sufficiency to maintain the well-being of nature and the current and future generations. Some of the opponents of environmental protection argue that it affects economic life. However, ignoring the need for sustainable development fails to consider that the quality of life deteriorates when there is environmental pollution, and there may be irreparable damage to communities. While there is resource use and allocation, there is a focus on protection and avoiding overexploitation of natural resources. The failure to protect the environment potentially affects nature, people, flora, and fauna. The negative impact of environmental pollution and degradation tends to be long-term. Human beings should be actively involved in environmental protection at the individual and community level to keep the environment safe by mitigating environmental impact, achieving sustainable development, maintaining biodiversity, and habitat protection.
* Environmental protection laws and mitigating environmental impact
Environmental protection laws and regulations have spurred green innovation, and there are efforts to mitigate environmental impacts. Environmental mitigation and action matter as countries are more proactive in mitigating climate change. “Although the environmental protection law was issued, environmental protection was weak in China because China’s top priority was economic development [30]. Without prioritizing environmental protection, the government allowed extensive economic growth to dominate China’s economy” (Chen & Wu, 2021). There is an interaction between environmental, economic, social, and health issues, and environmental problems are more complex than ever before, but still, there is a need to promote sustainability (Burke et al., 2017). Environmental protection has been crucial to improving air and water quality without compromising economic growth potential while reducing the risk of harm to people (Pavlidis & Tsihrintzis, 2018).
* Environmental protection and sustainable development
There is a perception that there are trade-offs between economic growth and environmental protection, but environmental protection emphasizes sustainable growth, and developed countries tend to have clean air. Adaptation requires environmental protection and conservation efforts to target sustainable growth and development. “Integrating the protection of nature into the wider scope of human development, the SDGs were established as a blueprint for a more sustainable future for all” (Zeng et al., 2020, p. 795). Adjustments have been essential to environmental protection, with organizations expected to comply with environmental regulations. Total pollutant emission reduction is one of the. People and organizations are obliged not to cause environmental harm intentionally. Thus, the intention should be to protect the environment and minimize environmental dama...
