However, after the second world war, depression was categorized as a severe health problem. For example, endogenous depression was a severe form of depression that was causing a genetic problem, as it could pass from one generation to the next. As a result, professors used the metaphor of the alarm clock in explaining this severe condition. They stated that depressive symptoms are similar to an individual with a psychotic time bomb, which will explode when time goes off, ending after its course. The issue of depression is caused by acting external factors, which will be affecting the lives of an individual.
