The author of the book One Man’s bible features the impact of the Chinese Cultural Revolution in China. The narration starts with an introduction of an unnamed character living in the historical period between the end of the resistance war against Japanese in China and the start of the civil war. This article reveals his desperate life while staying under confiscation of the police in his home in Beijing. What could he have done to live under such a limited situation? In addition, he lives all alone in the house. Xingjian reveals that the house once hosted a big and happy family just like in all other settings. According to the author, he lives a sad life not because he does not know the origin but because he cannot undo past events (Xingjian, 2010). Losing the entire family is not easy and the character described in the book should have faced significant challenges. This book describes the changed life of a man because of past experiences and encounters with hardships during the war.
The author reveals the sadness and sorrowful situation of the man. Living in his home alone creates endless castles that could yield depression. First, he knows what has happened and the fact that he cannot reverse the situation hurts the most. Staying alone deepens the wound because he spends most of the time thinking about the past and dull incidences affecting his current life. The author reveals his urge and desire to get a better life out of the cage in his house. This book gives evidence that living to see the memories around items like photographs in the house complicates his life further and getting a refuge would aid into a quick recovery process (Xingjian, 2010). The phase described in the book yields a series of lessons and his life starts to incur various changes. The author reveals his body transformation after living in quite desirable conditions. The man is confused about some memories and he cannot justify that the idea is triggering by remembering her perfect and well-aligned body. Although conforming to love issues might be hard to define, he’s certain about the intrusion of his instincts. The book shows that he did not understand how he knows how past issues had changed his life drastically although he remembered all the happenings.
The confusion exhibited shows that he did not know he had returned to his home in the capital city. Neither did he have the keys nor could he open the door. Surprisingly, authorities representing the law make way for him. The confusion could have originated from the presence of police officers and not emotions related to the past. The memories are however disrupted by an invitation to lunch by a stranger. However, the book reveals the man picking him for the appointment as Mr Zhou (Xingjian, 2010). The long drive leads to a creation of chances for sharing and he narrates the occurrence of various incidences in his life including the imprisonment of his parents. The author shows that the invitation was meant to attend a party organized by Mao, a Chinese political leader. The aim of the meeting was supporting the idea of Mao Zedong in pushing for a ...
