Macro from the English dictionary means big, while micro is synonymous to the term small. With regard to nutrients, macronutrients are the nutrients that our bodies need in large amounts. They mainly include fats, proteins, and carbohydrates. These mainly include the foods that we measure in terms of grams. The reason for this is that we need them in larger amounts and thus have to measure them in such a manner. One of the reasons why our bodies need macronutrients is because of energy.
