Discussion on the Developing an Evaluation Plan

Term Paper Instructions:

Using 800-1,000 words, discuss methods to evaluate the effectiveness of your proposed solution and variables to be assessed when evaluating project outcomes.
Example: If you are proposing a new staffing matrix that is intended to reduce nurse turnover, improve nursing staff satisfaction, and positively impact overall delivery of care, you may decide the following methods and variables are necessary to evaluate the effectiveness of your proposed solution:
Methods:
1.Survey of staff attitudes and contributors to job satisfaction and dissatisfaction before and after initiating change.
2.Obtain turnover rates before and after initiating change.
3.Compare patient discharge surveys before change and after initiation of change.
Variables:
1.Staff attitudes and perceptions.
2.Patient attitudes and perceptions.
3.Rate of nursing staff turnover.
Develop the tools necessary to educate project participants and to evaluate project outcomes (surveys, questionnaires, teaching materials, PowerPoint slides, etc.).
Refer to the "Topic 4: Checklist."

Introduction
An evaluation plan is essential for the description of monitoring and evaluating an intended project outcome. Monitoring of the project involves an evaluation plan that has its own objectives and goals. The necessity of evaluation is a component of vitality that during an implementation of an improvement plan, the project or proposed solution is assessed and linked to the progress outcome (Moore, 2016). The central line catheters evaluation plan will involve coming up with methods of evaluating the effectiveness of central line catheters which is intended to reduce blood stream infection in haemodialysis patients, improve the health care delivery reduce nurse turnover, and improve nurse and patient satisfaction. The evaluation plan will involve the collection of previous HD-CLABSI data, both qualitative and quantitative data from haemodialysis patients that had a central line inserted. Surveying the nurses and patients satisfaction levels and nurses turnover rates before and after the initiation of the proposed solution. The data then will be taken through an analysis utilizing the (NHSN) National Healthcare Safety Network Criteria for CLABSIs. The data that will be collected and analysed will assist in establishing a baseline of the before and the after implementation of the central line catheters intervention (DeGennaro, 2014).
Goals and objectives
The goals of the evaluation plan is to reduce the CLABSI to zero in healthcare setting and to establish an efficient, satisfied and dedicated team of nurses for central line insertion and care. The objectives that this plan aims to achieve are to implement evidence based intervention that will prevent HD-CLABSI, improve nurses` satisfaction and reduce nurses` turnover rates, improve the health of patients with haemodialysis, and improve the satisfaction of patients.
Review of central line catheters
Central line catheters are devices that assist in the management of critical illnesses. They have longer catheters that are treaded into a central vessel which terminates near the heart, as compared to peripheral intravenous lines and they are a more secure form of access for fluid administration and medications for patients. They can help reduce the risk of the Central Line Associated Blood Stream Infection (CLABSI) that increases a patient’s mortality rate, patient dissatisfaction on prolonged stay at hospital and spending too much money on treatment, nurses’ dissatisfaction, and high rates of nurse turnovers (Khanna et al, 2013).
Methods of evaluation
The (haemodialysis) HD-CLABIS rates will be retrieved from the HIM and the evidenced based practices of Central line catheters will be implemented for a period of 12 months. The rates will be tracked over time and the data recorded in a state level database. The trends over time in infection rates will be evaluated and the nurses’ perception will be monitored throughout the implementation (Duncan et al, 2010).
Pre and post-test evaluation of the proposed plan. This will reveal the information on nurses and medical practitioners on the knowledge of central...
