Term Paper Instructions:

You spent the last nine weeks learning about various aspects of an organization, its business functioning and the process of its strategic shift from a profit-only model to a triple bottom line model.
In the course, you learned to:
Determine the impact of proposed strategic decisions across departments
Assess current performance of an organization through analysis of financial statements
Make ethically informed decisions based on awareness of legal and organizational parameters
Now, it’s time to reflect on what you’ve learned.
Prompt
To complete this assignment:
Identify three key topics from the course that you want to explore further. For example:
How do various functional areas or departments individually and collectively contribute to the CSR outlook of a company?
How can analyzing financial statements of a company help reveal its commitment toward CSR?
How can a company become a frontrunner in making ethical choices while staying within legal restrictions?
Apply the chosen three topics to re-evaluate the company you chose in Module One (you can consult the list of companies).
Your re-evaluation should address one of the following considerations:
Related to the topic, what was your first impression of the company you chose? What is your current impression of the company? How has it changed? Explain your reasoning.
What drives the direction for the company in its sustainability efforts?
What are the key features of the CSR efforts of the company?
Do you believe the company has a sustainable approach to the triple bottom line?
What are the critical financial, social responsibility, or ethical challenges facing the company in today’s global environment?
Based on your evaluation, justify whether the company you chose in Module One deserves praise for its commitment to CSR.

CSR Role Module
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a commitment by businesses to managing the impact of their operations on customers (clients), shareholders, employees, local communities, the environment, and society. As part of CSR, there is ethical conduct, commitment, adaptability, and performance, and it is not done for convenience, but there is also an improved brand image for the company. There are environmental, ethical, economic, and philanthropic dimensions of CSR. Amazon’s CSR focuses on different aspects such as environment or climate change, supply chains minimizing waste, fair partnerships, and health. There are also ethical practices and leadership support for CSR.
Based on your evaluation, justify whether the company you chose in Module One deserves praise for its commitment to CSR
Amazon deserves praise for its commitment, especially sustainability initiatives such as commitment to environmental issues, supply chain, and equality. However, there are still issues with low pay to workers and for the deliverymen and women, working for long hours and low pay is unsustainable in the long run. To promote the company’s CSR initiative, Amazon has partnered with like-minded organizations and partners as part of environmental protection and conservation. The hiring and promotion practices also promote equality and prohibit discrimination. The sustainability reports highlight the company’s sustainability progress and CSR activities implemented and those planned for the future. Eliminating wastage in packaging and energy use has also been a focus of the company’s initiatives.
Amazon’s sustainability strategy emphasizes creating and maintaining a sustainable business now and in the future where there is the prioritization of customers, well-being of clients, and seeking a positive impact on communities and the planet. Sustainability initiatives emphasize sustainable operations, a climate pledge, and the supply chain and improving packaging (Amazon, 2020). As part of the climate pledge, Amazon has committed to be net-zero carbon by 2020, and there is a gradual adoption of renewable energy (Amazon, 2020). Sustainability targeting impact on the environment and communities include the sustainable use of resources and water usage in the company’s data centers. As part of promoting and protecting environmental sustainability, there are independent assessments.
