ReSEARCH PROPOSAL: MOTIVATION AND FURTHER STUDY Student’s Name Course Professor’s Name University City (State) Date Research Proposal: Motivation and Further Study Introduction Personality is a set of behaviours or characteristics exhibited by an individual that dictates his or her feelings, thoughts and actions. It has for a long time been believed that personality affects the performance of an individual at the workplace. Various studies have been conducted to find the relationship between personality and job performance. Most scholars have devoted their time to study the importance of personality and determine how it impacts the performance of the employees. The studies have been vital as they decide which kind of motivation the managers have to give their employees to improve productivity. Literature Review Personality influences all the aspects of a person's job performance, and how they react to different situations on the workplace. Not every type of personality can fit in every job position. Job positions like the managerial level require a high degree of ambitiousness and adaptability which means that extroverted people would best fit such posts. As a result of various work demands, employers seek to employ those individuals who exhibit such attributes as openness, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and creativity — these attributes as seen as desirable across various jobs (Sackett & Walmsley, 2014). Therefore, employees look for these character traits to determine people who qualify for employment. Since the extroverts are the ones who are associated with these qualities that the employers look for in in an employee, it presents a challenge for the job seekers who are not necessarily extroverted. Employers also believe that personality type correlates to the degree of performance and that extroverted workers are better workers than the introverted ones. Contrary, a study co...
