To continue our discussions about music and meaning from the final third of the semester, write a research paper in which you identify and explain an example of music that has carried at least two different meanings for different people, times, or places. To find an example that interests you (and that will interest your readers) is a necessary and often difficult first step in the assignment. Consider a song whose meaning has been the subject of public debate, or perhaps music that has faded in popularity before being rediscovered by a new generation of fans. There are many possibilities.
After introducing the origins of the music itself, present at least two carefully-researched perspectives to show the reader how different audiences have found different meanings in the music. Using the elements of music (SHMRG), be sure to address how the style of the music itself helps to shape the meanings that you describe. Here in the twenty-first century, the available primary source references are not limited to books and magazines but may also include web articles, tweets, YouTube comments, blog posts, etc.
At the end of your paper, include a list of these references. Like your in-text citations, the list of references must be formatted according to one of the standard citation guides such as MLA Style. If you have questions about how to choose a citation style, be sure to ask in advance.

For instance, a song by Lisa Fisher and Gregory Porter titled “Yo- Yo- Ma Heart and Soul” presents different meaning under different contexts as presented herein. “Yo-Yo Ma- Heart and Soul is a song in the “Sing me Home” album by a group of artists known as Silk Road Ensemble which has been performed on different occasions across the world. The song is owned by Lisa Fisher and Gregory Porter and has used different musical styles to pass its intended message to the listeners. The singers have massively employed different instruments which depict cultural diversity in the society. The truck was released in April 2016 with the video uploaded in all social media network which received different interpretation and perceptions toward the listeners (Smith, 2016). The song is interpreted in two different dimensions; as a love song expressing love desires among lovers and as a cultural song that recognized the role of cultural diversity in the American society to enhance harmony among different societies. The content of the song if full of love messages, which is mainly expressed among lovers. When people are in love, they tend to express their feeling through singing. As the singer presents, he expresses a strong desire and love portion toward his lover. The song brings a sense of ownership and close relationship among lovers. “I fell in love with you Heart and Soul” ("Silkroad Ensemble, Yo-Yo Ma - Heart and Soul Ft. Lisa Fischer, Gregory Porter"). These are a strong word that presents love and care among partners. The soothing rhythms of the song can be interpreted as the feeling for love and the desire to own someone else heart. With the content of the song, the audience would be convinced that the singer is presenting the song to his lover. Many audiences have interpreted the song “Yo-Yo Ma Heart and Soul” as a love song and used it to dedicate love for their loved ones. The songwriter requests for love, respect, and adoration to intensify their love. “You’ve got me loving you MadlyYeah; That little kiss you stole” (Carmichael, 2018). Love may not be the official meaning of the song, but a significant percentage of the listeners have interpreted it from love and affection perspectives. Gregory Porter has been invited on different occasions to perform the song as a presentation of love to individuals or society. The song is usually played I different occasions like wedding, vacations, and celebrations with an expression of the theme of love.
