On March 28, 2018, the New York Times reported that 14 officers beat up 4 black men after a dispute in one bar. An off-duty officer thought that the black men was whistling at his girlfriend but actually whistling to get the attention of the bartender. According to the African-American patrons, they were punched and kicked to the ground where significant injuries resulted from the assault (Hasaan). However, these occurrences of police brutality are common not just in one country but around the world. According to Al Jareeza, "police abuse in France is an everyday thing."
