Pharmacological Drugs Reducing Aggression
Introduction
Aggressive behavior is a major factor in the mental health, and criminal justice setting and the pharmacotherapy is always applied in the treatment of the volatile and violent people. Pharmacological treatment of the impulsive and the aggressive behavior is vital in various medical intervention setups as the problem of aggression is common within a variety of psychiatric disorders and neurological diseases. The anti-aggression drugs have become common because of the increasingly popular for the management of the impulsive of the reactive aggressive human aspect or behavior. Research outcomes have revealed the implication of various neurobiological deficits related with impulse aggression incorporating the limited serotonergic functioning, executive dysfunction, and the prefrontal deficits. It has been noted that the neurobiological deficits particular to the impulsive aggressive behavior might serve as indicators of the ineffective behavioral control system. The pharmacotherapy of aggressive or violent behaviors in people has not gained extensive studies and research despite the existence of the problem in society. Individuals with the most support for the efficacy are the neuroleptics with shorter-acting benzodiazepines demonstrating the importance of the state. The recent research and analysis show that the drugs effective in reducing aggression are only effective on the few patients having massive side effects on the patients. There are various drugs which are efficient in the reduction of aggression such as propranolol, lithium, carbamazepine which is suitable but their efficacy in the neuroleptic and dementia patients has never been shown in placebo-controlled studies. The objective of this research is to elucidate on what pharmacological drug would be most effective in reducing aggression.
Explanation of the biological pathways involved in the phenomenon
There are various biological pathways involved in the effective reduction since aggression is a social context involving conflict between two individuals. Biologically, aggression is vital in achieving social dominance and procuring massive resources as a means to reproduce. In some levels of life in the society, aggressiveness is universally considered in the contribution to higher fitness. In the non-human animals, aggression in the competition of the resources is taken as normal behavior. In the human societies, the aggression for the competition of the limited resources is not considered normal behavior and can reflect a symptom of psychopathologies (Crawford & Novak, 2018). Human aggressions include the violent acts causing suffering and death and are punishable by the law in the society. There are various political and financial efforts to limit human violence, but less is known in the intervention and the prevention of the phenomenon. Most animals use aggression as a form of addressing their issues which can never be easily reflected in the human phenotype. The major purpose of this thesis is the identification of the central and peripheral physiological techniques attributed to massive aggressiveness with the application of the...
