Adolescents occupy an ambiguous position in all societies (Blakemore, 2018). As a stage in personal and social growth, adolescence is a phase that every individual experiences. The societal adolescent views about adolescents generally come with anxiety. In a unique development cycle, adolescence is always marked by negative connotations and a lack of positive ideologies (Blakemore, 2018). Adolescence is one of the primary objectives of socialization when equalizing the youth to adults in society. The transition to adulthood is affected by the personal perception of individuals in this category. In most instances, adults do not allow these individuals to enjoy their freedom of expression. Most of the time, teenagers' adult perception comes with hostility, cultivating unhealthy relationships between the two parties. However, adolescent people are always aware of the inferior perception of their lives by adults. Adolescents believe that they are irresponsible, sloppy, and unreliable people who can never make meaningful decisions (Bryans et al., 2018).
Adults are always aware of what is in the best interest of teenagers, and adolescents know what is best for them (Bryans et al., 2018). Adults believe that they have the power to control adult-adolescent relationships, which brings trust issues. Since society believes that older people are wiser than teenagers, adults think they have more experience dealing with life issues than adolescents. The societal perception that adults possess more wisdom always creates the notion that adolescents cannot make informed choices because they might not be aware of the consequences. Adults have been around for a while and have a better common sense from experience making their judgments better than teenagers (Blakemore, 2018).
