Research Topic Airline The airline of which I’ve choose to do my research on is ‘American Airlines’. American Airlines has recently encountered a legal issue concerning a Boeing 737-800 as it had been tampered with by an employee who hoped to gain overtime. “The arrest of a veteran American Airlines mechanic this week for allegedly sabotaging a plane at Miami International Airport an hour before takeoff in July sparked condemnation by the airline and its mechanics union Friday — and raised troubling safety concerns for travelers” (USA TODAY). I’ve chosen this Airline because it is known as the world’s largest airline and I believe that a legal issue of this degree must be thoroughly analyzed and worked out. According to the FAA, there are many rules and regulations that concern the tampering of aircrafts and so I plan to further explain and go into details about these regulations in my research paper. I also plan to address further legal issues that American Airlines have encountered and solved during the past as well as share my views on what can be done to improve the way they legally address certain dilemmas in the future.

The management of employees in American Airlines has failed in the delivery of services resulting in poor output in the general performance of the organization. Although the company merged with U.S. Airways to improve its products and services, the corporation has not reflected any significance in the industry (Leff, 2019). This iteration could mean that the problems affecting the organization are internal and the significant causes originate from the workers in the industry. "The merger of the two airlines was supported by its unions. U.S. Airways workers would generally get raises coming up to American Airline's levels of pay. Why American Airlines workers wanted the U.S. Airways management team to come in, though, was always a mystery (beyond mere resentment of legacy management) (Leff, 2019).” Ironically, a mechanic in the American Airlines tampered with a plane to get overtime payment irrespective of the high wages offered to the employees compared to the other aircraft companies in the country. The claim reveals that the major problem in the firm originates from the employees and the iteration is on the pilots handling the faulty planes. Do the people think about the populations of passengers that might lose their lives due to their greed to obtain more resources? The management in the organization has failed in the monitoring of workers, resulting in negligence and reduced output.
Pilots have to seek help in the control of the planes while up in the air. They not only have to protect the lives of the passengers but also their own since they are in the machine likely to crash any moment and cause destruction in the loss of lives and other natural resources. The pilots do not depend on the provisions offered by the organization entirely since failure in response can result in mass issues in the handling of the plane in case of a problem. “Legacy America West pilots were still paying a monthly fee to access their scheduling system even by the time U.S. Airways and American merged, for instance (Leff, 2019).” The pilots are forced to make extra payments to access the desired systems in scheduling to ensure maximum maintenance of the planes before and after every trip. Although the tactic worked in enhancing safety, the company should work on the conservation and management of their team to improve efficiency and reliability in their services. Resourcing ideas and help from outside their context and work setting is expensive, and the firm should look for alternatives to restore its accountability in operation.
On the other hand, the failures in the American airline's operation could have resulted in past issues such as the Boeing 737-800 tampered by an employee. The authorities handling the case revealed that the worker had disabled the navigation equipment (Vigdor, 2019). As far as the issue might look or sound insignificant, the plane could not take off at the required time. This issue affected the passenger's schedules as everyone designated for the trip had different reasons for traveling.
