Research Paper Instructions:

1. Research articles on a variety of topics (traditions, politics, history, education, language, cuisine, music, and celebrations to mention a few) that relate to French-speaking areas where French is the/one of the official language(s), in each of these areas:

2. Europe

3. Africa (see the chart below that will assist you in selecting the province/capital from which the articles will come from)

 

2. Key to your research: The articles that you select will need to connect specifically to the French Culture.

3. Prepare a report with the following components:

1. A cover page indicating the course name and code, assignment, your name, your instructor’s name, the date 2. Three sections reflecting each of the areas (Canada, Europe, and Africa). Each section must include the following:

■ Title page for each section: include a map highlighting the province(s) or country to which the section pertains. Include graphics, images and short phrases from the articles that you have read. Your title page should show evidence of research. Review the articles that you select, to guide the graphics, images and short phrases that will be posted on the title pages that you create.

■ Two articles for each section: on a variety of topics (traditions, politics, history, education, language, cuisine, music, and celebrations to mention a few). Do not choose two articles on the same topic. The articles must have been written no earlier than September 2017, and must be between 120 and 500 words in length. A hard copy of each article must be included in the report. The articles that you select will need to come from a newspaper, a magazine, a news broadcast or other formal media sources) as you will be expected to provide the title, author, type of publication, date and formal reference.

■ 5Ws for each article: one paragraph (100-120 words approx.) that will include the 5W’s.

■ 5W’s = who, what, when, where and why

■ Summary for each article: one paragraph (175 – 180 words approx.). The following questions that will need to be included in your summary: What aspect of the French Culture did this article focus on? What did you learn about the French Culture from this article?

3. The format for the summaries and the personal reflections is as follows:

However, recently, this tradition of dancing is almost extinct as there are no longer people celebrating it. However, a few villages around Quebec still celebrate this art form.
