Joe Lewis Thomas is a musician who is known for his excellent vocal of smooth and sultry R&B productions coupled with hip-hop beats. Joe began his music due to the best gospel background that made him produce numerous albums and sing on all of them. Joe was born on July 5, 1973, in Georgia. Joe was a son to two preachers and spent most of his early days in church singing, playing guitar, and directing choir under early church choir and gospel stars such as Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Winans, and Commissioned. Later, the family moved to Opelika in Alabama and New Jersey. As a young boy, Joe loved soul legends at the time, such as Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Keith Sweat, and Bobby Brown, leading to his inspiration and love for music.
Joe continued his love for music after graduating from high school and wrote music while working in temporary jobs. Later, the musician traveled to New Jersey to define his career and find it in the music industry. Joe, as a musician who worked at a gospel record store while attending musical education in a local church, met VIncet Herbert, a producer who would aid him record three-song demo tape.
In 1993, Joe signed a contract with Polygram and released his debut album "Everything." Later on, Joe participated in the soundtrack of "Don't Be a Menace to South Central While You're Drinking Juice in the Hood." Besides, Joe moved to RCA/Jive for the second album "All That I Am" in 1997. Joe released a soundtrack of "Booty Call," leading to a single hit "Don't Wanna Be a Payer" and went ahead to do a duet remix by Tina Turner and "Never in Your Dreams" by Barry White. Moreover, Joe wrote and produced the debut album of Ideal and Deja Groove.
Separately, Joe participated in "Thank God I Found You" single of Mariah Carey and excelled in his "I Wanna Know" from The Wood in 1999 that later hit in 2000, leading to his album "My Name Is Joe. He then released "Better Days" and "Signature."
Joe's performances went unnoticed for a decade until he released "The Good, the Bad, the Sex" in 2011 with four productions from Brandon Alexander, Fantasia, and Too Short with other guest appearances he made in Double back and evolution of R&B in 2013.
