FINAL PAPER/PROJECT Guidelines- DUE 12/9 1
DUE DECEMBER 9 (11:59pm) on CANVAS
There are several possibilities for your final project, including:
1. World performance. Learn and record a 3-5 minute piece from a world music tradition and upload. Must also include a 2-3 page 1 pager addressing the historical and musicological context as well as a discussion of performance practice.
2. Research paper of 5-7 pages. Many aspects of Global Pop could be considered, including:
a. a biography of an important global pop figure. IMPORTANT: If you choose an American artist, then the research must center specifically around his/her/their influence outside the U.S. and/or any fusion/collaborations with foreign artists
b. Analysis of pop music in foreign films or remakes
c Analysis of songs and cover versions from foreign artists (or vice versa -maybe the original was foreign and remake American)
d. Genre study (e.g. punk, hip hop, ballads, etc) across 2 or more different cultures
e. Expand one of your earlier Discussion Board responses into a 5+ page study/analysis. Keep in mind the rule in 2a -- if this is an American artist/group, you must (also) discuss their influence outside the U.S. and/or collaborations/fusions done with foreign artists
