Introduction
The issue of diseases has been a significant concern in society today. The diabetes problem does not only affect the patients but also has adverse effects on the families of the patients. Presently, it has a significant challenge since the patients are always given the right diabetes therapy, but it seems not to be effective in managing the disease. The ineffectiveness of the drugs has been a significant challenge to the families of these patients because, despite the effort of buying the drugs and taking care of the patients, they seem not to recover or improve from the diabetes condition.
The issue which has been raised is that, though the medications have been effective and appropriate, the patients do not have enough knowledge to follow the instructions and the drug therapy. It is for this reason that many scholars from the medical field have gained interest in researching the root cause of the ineffectiveness of the diabetes drug therapy. Researchers have found out that among many of the factors that contribute to the inefficiency of the drugs, the primary consideration is the lack of knowledge and education on how well a patient can follow the therapy. The patient's education on how to take their medication effectively has been the main driving force of this research. The research aims at determining whether the patients who receive training after treatment have better chances of recovering from the disease than those who don't get the knowledge about the medication.
A Comparison of the Research Questions
This research aims at finding out the relationship between the effectiveness of diabetes drug therapy and the education provided to the patients after treatment. In a quantitative study to determine the relationship between the autonomy support and the efficacy of the diabetes therapy, Lee, Piette, Heisler, Janevic & Rosland (2019) found that there is a significant relationship between the efficiency of the treatment and the level of the autonomy support. In a review study to investigate the impact of improved communication in diabetes management, Sohal, Sohal, King-Shier, and Khan (2015) concluded that enhanced communication between the patient and the family helps to increase diabetes control among the patients who have type 2 diabetes. Similarly, Azami et al. (2018) noted that when diabetes patients are given specialized disease management education, they become actively involved in the role of diabetes self-management.
A section of the diabetes patients fails to get the patient education due to several barriers such as lack of nearness to a diabetes management facility and lack of willingness to follow the long educational process. Lawal, Woodman & Fanghanel (2018) concluded that some respondents in an interview said that they fail to attend the diabetes educational programs because of the perception that they have enough knowledge. Other said that they could get information and education about the therapy from the internet.
