Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamic Processes. Research Paper

Research Paper Instructions:

For this Discussion, you reflect on a case from your past clinical experiences and consider how a patient’s pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic processes may alter his or her response to a drug.
Assignment Instructions:
Post a description of the patient case from your experiences, observations, and/or clinical practice from the last 5 years. Then, describe factors (genetics (including pharmacogenetics), gender, ethnicity, age, or behavior) that might have influenced pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic processes of the patient you identified. Finally, explain details of the personalized plan of care that you would develop based on influencing factors and patient history in your case. Be specific and provide examples.

Background
Pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic processes are necessary to review the drugs treat the disease and select the most appropriate treatment based on patient goals and patient considerations. Pharmacokinetic deals with the absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion of drugs in the body, while pharmacodynamics focuses on the effects of drugs on an organism and how the body reacts to specific drugs (Arcangelo et al., 2017). In patients with diabetes type 1 and diabetes 2, NovoLog (insulin aspart) has shown efficacy, measured as a control of HbA1 and blood glucose levels, similar to human insulin. The adverse events that are expected to appear in treatment with NovoLog are similar to other types of insulin such as hypoglycemia and lipohypertrophy.
Background
Mr. M is a 69 years old white man with diabetes type 2, he had a mild stroke when the was 66 years old, M currently lives alone and has been prescribed NovoLog before meals . The drug is fast acting insulin is administrated on a daily basis through subcutaneous (SC) injection. NovoLog was to be administered 5-10 minutes before a meal at 0.5 to 1.0 units/ kg per day. Insulin Aspart may be mixed with other insulin type, but to monitor progress it is the one that was first used to determine whether there was a need to change the drug.
Factors Influencing Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics
One of the factors affecting the use of the drug and interactions is age where the functional ability to monitor treatment progress is less than that of younger patients who actively monitor progress. Thus, there were concerns on whether the patient would administer insulin when required while monitoring their blood glucose levels and managing hypoglycemia (Biester et al., 2016. There is adjustment of the insulin dose to achieve glycemic control, which means that the doses may vary, but when the patents does not follow the instructions this may bring health complications.
NovoLog ...
