Health Data Reporting [Name of the Student] [Name of the Institution] [Date of Submission] Health Data Reporting According to CDC.Gov. (2019), different laws are maintained by each state according to which it is the legal duty to report about particular diseases and health data at the state level. Whereas, it is voluntary to provide notifications or information to CDC at the federal level by the states. However, only a portion of the public health data is represented by 57 jurisdictions that voluntarily share the notifiable diseases data. Further, this data is collected and used for considering decisions and performing public health activities within the communities, for example, control and outbreak. Over the last 30 years, there had been a rapid increase in HAI. Along with this, there has been a widespread agreement that consequent prevention of HAIs, best practices for infection control, and enhanced medical procedures can be generated by reporting mechanisms of HAI. Data on HAI have always been collected by infection control professionals on a confidential and voluntary basis (for example, NHSN – the National Healthcare Safety Network), whereas, in the past resistance was shown by hospitals to any public or mandatory reporting of HAI rates. Moreover, a Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee was instituted by the CDC for public reporting of HAIs to create guidance documents that would highlight principles for reporting systems. Further, for reporting and collecting HAI data that balances the need of hospitals for...
